We are extremely pleased to announce that we are now officially producing zero waste to landfill. In conjunction with our regular waste collection partners, we have been able to segregate our waste streams and follow them all the way through their stages to be reused or recycled.
We are proud of how far we have come with this initiative within a few years. Of course, we were always a company that was aware of our environmental footprint, but since gaining our ISO 14001 accreditation we have taken steps to make us as environmentally friendly as we can possibly be.
The label and printing industry has always had its problems managing waste due to most of it being made up of non-recyclable matrix waste cut away from the finished product. Our waste is collected and delivered to a waste converter, who can convert the waste into bio-mass fuels.
It is now an objective of Labelnet to continue to see how we can work to be more environmentally friendly and within the past few months we have initiated small changes to our policies and operations, such as using energy saving light bulbs, monitoring our usage of office paper and putting in place everyday targets, which include printing out less and monitoring all of our output; we also produce daily waste reports from our presses and carry out electricity monitoring.
We will continue to strive to be as eco-friendly in as we can be in every area of the business, and will keep an eye out for any advancements that allow us to improve our processes even further. For the time being, however, we are as green as we have ever been!
